One factor contributing to the success of the business has been its focus on a single sector of the market; the high-end residential market.

Within this space Coastal Builders has completed a number of new homes and alterations, with quality craftsmanship never being compromised.

All projects involve qualified architects, so the work we do is focused on the specific needs of our clients. Modern homes require more than just a good builder; they require a network of skilled sub-contractors too, and in that regard we have access to the best skills and labour around.

All project management is dealt with by the company director Geordie Davidson

Geordie Davidson | Director

I began working in the industry initially through a personal interest in refurbishing my own properties. This lead to further opportunities in the renovation of restaurants and bars in the Wellington area, followed by continued construction work ranging from office fit outs to various domestic building jobs. With this acquired knowledge and skill I decided to form Coastal Builders here in Auckland in 1996. Since then we have built up a team of highly trained trades people. We pride ourselves on our quality, professional work and commitment to delivering a high standard of workmanship to our clients.

Adriaan Ingles | Builder

I made my way into the world on 12th April 1988, with building in my blood. During my Secondary school holidays I worked for various building companies, which reinforced my career path in becoming a qualified Builder.

I left school having completed NCEA Level 1 and 2 to start working for a local residential building company. Due to lack of work I was offered the opportunity to work in an Engineering company, where I learned custom fabrication skills.

I then gained a building apprenticeship with a company that carried out building renovations and landscaping projects. I continue to broaden my skills in both areas. The company restructured to contract only employment. This lead to far greater opprontunities for my future as I was offered the opportunity to continue my apprenticeship as part of the very skilled and professional Coastal Builders team.

I am now in my second year of my BCITO apprenticeship.”

In November 2010 Adriaan Ingles completed and gained the National certificate in carpentry (L4) (13000) v9 (MA) and is now a qualified builder.

Paul Mullally | Builder

In the year 2000 I started my apprenticeship in carpentry/joinery in Ireland which consisted of 3 years on the job experience and 1 year college of which I graduated with merit. After that I moved to JMC Construction where within 6 months I was promoted to foreman working on everything from residential to commercial buildings including Government laboratories, pharmaceutical plants and leisure complexes. During this time I also worked for an Irish charity which built homes for people living in shanty towns in Cape town South Africa. The last of my four trips consisted of over 2000 people completing 250 homes in over 2 weeks.

At the start of 2009 I moved to Brisbane Australia where I worked as a first hand carpenter for All Scope Construction. Returning back to Ireland in 2010 I became self employed which I continued with until late 2011 when I made the move to Auckland.

I have worked for Coastal Builders since January 2012 and have been very impressed with the professionalism and quality of work which has made it very easy for me to integrate into Coastal Builders. I look forward to a bright future working with Coastal Builders.

Graeme Tyler | Builder

Graeme left school at 17 years old and enlisted in the New Zealand Army, Royal Engineers in 1985 and served for 11 years. Along with my military training I completed a Carpentry Apprenticeship gaining qualifications of Trade Certificate and Advanced Trade Certificate Carpentry. During my service I was awarded two Commendations for outstanding work and won second place in the NZ Career Skills National Final. I gained promotion to Carpentry Instructor and trained apprentices for my last four years.

On leaving the army I established my own company and carried out speculative residential building and alterations in the Auckland area. During my building career I moved to London for three years and was employed as a Project/Contracts Manager to control works that included the refurbishment of Historical Listed buildings.

When I returned to New Zealand I realised that my true passion was in crafting high-end residential dwellings. Over the last 10 years I have been employed as a Site Supervisor/Forman on numerous multi million dollar projects.

Having the opportunity to join the Coastal Builders team and to be part of their future in quality high-end residential construction is very exciting.
